Vitajte / Welcome

We are honoured and delighted to host the 36th annual conference of the European Health Psychology Society from the 23rd to the 27th of August, 2022.

Theme: Charting New Territories in Health Psychology

The Organising Committee looks forward to welcoming you to the 36th annual conference of the European Health Psychology Society. This year’s conference will be a particularly special event as we reconvene in-person as a Society after two years of virtual conferences. This year’s conference will take place in the Capital of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, also referred to as the Beauty on the Danube. Bratislava can not only boast an interesting history, it is also at the centre of the most dynamically developing region of central Europe at present. While we aim to welcome as many delegates as possible in Bratislava, we are aware that the Covid-19 pandemic remains uncertain and unpredictable; therefore, we are delighted to offer hybrid options for delegates to participate online/virtually, should they be unable to attend in-person. We look forward to meeting colleagues from all around the world at the 36th annual EHPS conference!

Bratislava

Situated in the south-west of Slovakia, Bratislava stretches on both banks of the Danube and in the foothills of the Little Carpathian Mts. Thanks to this favourable position it was always a commercial centre. Today the historic places witnesses to the rapid development of the young Slovak Republic. In spite of its exciting history, Bratislava is one of the youngest Capitals of the world and its population is also very young. The modern metropolis is opened to Europe and to the world as proved by the increasing number of foreign visitors of most diverse countries. They are attracted by the cosiness of the rather small city that nevertheless possesses a throbbing social life and historic charms combined with the most recent trends. Palaces, modern shopping and trade centres, admirable arts of the Slovak cooks and brewers, friendly people and various international cultural or sport events, exhibitions, and business opportunities are the reasons why it is worth of visit.

The capital of Slovakia, Bratislava, lies on the borders with Austria and Hungary. That makes the city the only one capital in the world that borders two independent countries. Moreover, Austrian capital Vienna is distant only 60 km! Both cities are stretched on the banks of Danube river and the boat cruise from Vienna to Bratislava takes only 90 minutes.

Bratislava

The only capital in the world bordering two countries

Slovakia

Currency = Euro (€)

Slovakia is not only a member of the European Union but also belongs to the Eurozone countries. In 2009, the Slovak Koruna (SKK) was retired from circulation after 16 years of using and replaced by a new currency – Euro (EUR). All surrounding countries except Austria use their own currencies, giving Slovakia a big advantage for visitors.
